EcoOnline will be following Microsoft’s stance on IE 11 from August 17th 2021. This means, customers will have a degraded experience using EcoOnline products on IE 11. Some new features may not be available and existing features may cease to work. EcoOnline will endeavour to resolve critical issues on IE 11 until Microsoft stop all support on June 22nd 2022.
EcoOnline recommends customers upgrade to Microsoft Edge or Chrome before August 17th 2021 to ensure the best experience with our products.
Why are you stopping support?
Developing features that work on IE 11 as well as Chrome/Edge takes longer and can often constrain the solution. We want to focus all our attention on the browsers that the vast majority of our customers are using.
I must use IE 11 as it’s the only browser that works with….
Microsoft Edge has an IE 11 compatibility mode that can be used for legacy applications.
My IT Department says I must use IE 11
Microsoft Office 365 apps, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc… will also have a degraded experience from August 17th and many other websites have already stopped supporting IE 11, including Atlassian, Trello, LinkedIn, Slack, SalesForce… and therefore your IT Department should be aware of the recommendation from Microsoft that all users upgrade to Edge or Chrome.
What is a ‘degraded experience’?
It means some features of our products may not work as well in IE 11 as they do in Edge/Chrome. This may mean they don’t work at all or be suboptimal (e.g. buttons or wording may not be displayed correctly). We will try to ensure all critical functionality of our products remains accessible on IE 11 (until June 2022) but non-critical features may be removed on IE11 or stop working. Any issues with IE 11 can be raised with our Support Team who will advise whether the issue will be addressed or whether you must use an alternative browser for that feature.
